Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of 2023.

Success also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
